Working in the studio through-out winter has been very challenging. However,  visions of  triumph over misogyny kept me going. The battle is over ,we have won.I am grateful to all those who sponsored this residency programme. I could not have done it without your support. The works on display were produced here in Swansea as part of an artist residency programme designed and sponsored by the Marion Donalda Fund for visual artists in partnership with Yemaja Gallery. They represent the main body of works for her solo exhibition scheduled for August 2019 in Lagos, Nigeria. They will be available for private viewing until 20 June 2019.

EGWU EKE (DANCE OF THE PYTHON)

I have titled this collection of works Egwu Eke in order to preserve the memory of a time when the Nigerian military were unleashed against unarmed civilians because they dare to hope for a better country. Like all performances ,this dance will soon be over and everyone will  go home.I hope these paintings will remain as reminder of how not to mismanage an already bad situation.

Operation Egwu Eke (dance of the python) was the name given by the Nigerian military to their mission in south-east Nigeria when they were ordered to silence all forms of agitation for secession by members of the Indigenious People of Biafra (IPOB)
